From the recording Anthology
Still a Child is Thin Ice's twist on a "power ballad". You can hear the influence of a couple of contemporary groups of the time especially on the chorus. This is also one of the best and most poignant lyrics by Frank Hanson. It conveys, in a heartfelt way, the uncertainty that can come with the prospect of a lifetime commitment to someone else. The line that states, "though our love has passed the test, I'm still a child at best...And I've yet to find out who I really am," is an example of this idea. The melody throughout each section is strong and distinct and the instrumental section in the middle with its distinctly 70s sounding arrangement serves as a nice counterbalance to the other sections. The group was very proud of how this song came out and consider it to be one of Thin Ice's best and most fully realized performances.
